Rose gold textures are one of those design elements that never really goes out of style. I use them constantly — overlays, backgrounds, accent elements — and I’ve been curious about how other designers approach this.
The two camps I see:
- People who hunt for pre-made rose gold textures and curate a library
- People who create them on the fly depending on the project needs
I’ve done both, and honestly, I think the best approach is having a solid base library but knowing how to modify textures to fit your specific project needs.
What I want to know:
- Do you source rose gold textures from stock sites, or create your own?
- If you create them, what’s your technique? (Photoshop, Procreate, other tools?)
- Quality matters — how do you spot a good texture vs. one that’s going to look cheap in your final design?
- What are your common use cases? I mainly use them for luxury/beauty branding, but curious what others do
For sourcing:
Stock sites have gotten better, but sometimes the metal textures feel too generic. The best ones I’ve found are actually from smaller creator portfolios or specialized texture packs.
I’m also wondering if anyone’s experimenting with generative approaches to textures — I know Substance and similar tools can create metallic effects, but I haven’t gone down that rabbit hole yet. Worth exploring?
