Procreate illustration has a massive community but good structured learning resources are harder to find than you’d think. Most tutorials are either too basic or assume a level of illustration background that beginners don’t have.
Resources I’ve found actually useful:
For absolute beginners getting comfortable with the tool: the official Procreate handbook is underrated. Not exciting but comprehensive and accurate.
For understanding illustration fundamentals alongside Procreate: Schoolism’s online courses have some of the best structured learning I’ve found. Expensive but worth it if you’re serious.
For specific techniques: YouTube is actually good here. Search specific things - “Procreate linework brush settings” or “Procreate colour harmony” rather than broad terms. You get practitioners showing exactly what they do.
For brushes that teach through use: some of the better brush packs come with demonstration files. Watching how a brush is intended to be used teaches technique better than explanation.
What’s been most useful for your own Procreate development? Especially interested in resources for portrait illustration and textured work.
