Privacy policy: what Creatisimo stores and why
This policy explains what Creatisimo at creatisimo.net stores about you, why it stores it, and what you can do about it. It is meant to be short and complete. Creatisimo is a small forum run by two editors, and we keep what we collect to the minimum a forum needs to work.
If you only read
If you only read threads, the forum asks you for nothing. You do not need an account to read. We do not run advertising trackers, we do not sell or share your information for advertising, and we do not build a profile of you or follow you to other sites. Like any website, our servers receive technical information about each request, covered under server logs below.
What the forum stores about members
If you create an account and post, the forum stores the following.
- Account email address. Used to confirm your account, sign you in, send password or login messages, and contact you about your account. It is not shown to other members.
- Username and profile details. The name you choose and anything you add to your profile, such as a short bio. These are visible to other members.
- Your posts. Every thread, reply, edit and any report you file. Posts are public and are visible to anyone, including search engines.
- Votes and activity. Records of what you voted on or reported, used to run the forum and to spot abuse.
- Images you upload. If you upload an image to a post, we store it so the post displays. Please only upload images you have the right to share.
We do not ask for your real name, your phone number or your payment details.
The session cookie
The forum sets one cookie, a session cookie, when you sign in. It keeps you signed in as you move between pages and lets the forum know a request comes from your account. It is needed for the forum to work for members and is not used for tracking or advertising. If you do not sign in, you will not receive it. You can delete it at any time in your browser settings, and doing so signs you out.
Server logs and Cloudflare
The forum is served through Cloudflare. Cloudflare and our hosting keep short technical logs of requests, which can include your IP address, the page requested, the time, the browser type and the response. We use these to keep the forum running, to protect it from attacks and bots, and to investigate abuse. We do not use logs to identify or profile readers. Cloudflare handles requests on our behalf under its own terms and privacy policy, which describe how it treats data on its network.
What we do not do
- We do not use advertising trackers or advertising cookies.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not run third party profiling or retargeting.
- We do not read private information into public pages. Your email address is never published.
We use your email address to send messages that are part of using the forum, such as account confirmation and password or login links. We send these through an email provider acting for us. We do not send marketing email unless you have clearly asked for it.
How long we keep things
Posts stay for as long as the thread does, since a reply makes little sense without the question. Account details are kept while your account is open. Server logs are kept only for as long as needed for security and operations, and are then rotated out. Backups of the forum may hold deleted material for a limited time before they are overwritten.
Asking for deletion or a copy
You can ask us to delete your account, to delete or anonymise your posts, to correct your details, or to send you a copy of what the forum holds about you. Email hello@creatisimo.net from the address on your account, so we can confirm it is you, and say what you want done. We will reply and act on a verified request within a reasonable time. Where a thread holds replies from other members, we may anonymise your posts and not remove them, so that the thread still makes sense. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will respect them.
Children
Creatisimo is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, email hello@creatisimo.net and we will remove it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of the page. If a change affects how we use your information in a significant way, we will say so on the forum.
