Been hoarding procreate brushes for like 3 years now and figured i should share my favorites since everyone always asks
my top picks for 2026:
- MaxPack Watercolor Set - hands down the most natural watercolor brushes ive found. the bleed edges are insanely good. free on gumroad
- Bardot Brush (by Lisa Glanz) - the stipple and halftone set is perfect for editorial illustration. been using it on packaging mockups nonstop
- RetroSupply Megapack - they do a free sampler every year and the 2026 one has these gouache brushes that feel like actual paint. not exaggerating
- Envato’s free procreate brush collection - hit or miss but theres gems in there. the chalk ones are solid
- True Grit Texture Supply - their free sample pack has like 8 brushes that i use more than most paid sets
honestly the free brush scene for procreate has gotten ridiculous. theres almost no reason to buy premium sets anymore unless you need something super specific
what are your go-to packs? looking for good lettering brushes specifically if anyone has recs

Oh man the RetroSupply gouache brushes are SO good. i use them for all my childrens book illustrations now. the opacity build-up feels almost identical to real gouache which is rare for digital brushes
one pack i’d add to your list: Melissa Launay’s free botanical brush set. its designed for nature illustration but the leaf and petal stamps work great for decorative elements in any style
the Bardot stipple set is amazing, been using that for editorial work too
for lettering specifically check out Stefan Kunz’s procreate brush pack. he released a free set with like 6 calligraphy brushes and they respond to pressure beautifully. best free lettering brushes ive found
Saving this whole thread lol. just got an ipad last month and the brush options are overwhelming. been using the default brushes like a fool apparently
quick question - do you organize your brushes into custom sets or just leave them in the imported folder? my brush library is already chaos and ive only been at this a few weeks
For anyone doing motion graphics type stuff in procreate - the animation brushes by OK Great Films are a game changer. they have built-in texture variation per frame so your animated strokes dont look robotic
also +1 for True Grit. their free sampler is genuienly better than most paid sets
@Ember_Mist_3 definitely make custom sets!! i organize mine by use case - sketching, inking, coloring, textures, lettering. takes 20 min to set up but saves you so much scrolling later
@pixelrage47 downloading the Stefan Kunz set right now, thanks for the rec
