the no-code web design space is moving so fast right now and i feel like the landscape has completely changed from even a year ago. wanted to get peoples takes on the big three
FRAMER: this is the one thats exciting me most. the figma import actually works now (mostly). the animations and interactions are best-in-class for no-code. the new CMS is surprisingly capable. BUT - the pricing got weird, the code export is nonexistent, and complex sites can get sluggish
WEBFLOW: the OG. most mature platform, best CMS, most flexible layout system. great for client sites where you need a real CMS. BUT - the learning curve is steep for a “no-code” tool, the designer feels dated compared to framer, and pricing for client sites adds up fast with the workspace plans
FIGMA SITES: the new kid. still in beta but the promise is huge - design in figma, publish as a website. the integration is obviously seamless if you already use figma. BUT - extremely limited right now. no CMS, basic interactions, feels more like a prototype host than a website builder
my take for 2026: framer for portfolio sites and marketing pages. webflow for complex sites with CMS needs. figma sites for quick prototypes and simple landing pages. theres no single winner
but im curious whats everyone actually USING for client work? who’s winning the no-code web design war in practice not just in feature comparisons?
webflow for 90% of my client work. framer for my own portfolio and experimental stuff
the reason is simple: webflow’s CMS is production-ready. clients can update their own content, theres proper SEO controls, the hosting is solid. framer’s CMS is catching up but its not there yet for sites that need 50+ blog posts and dynamic collections
also webflow’s class-based styling teaches you actual CSS concepts which makes you better at web design in general
Framer convert here. switched from webflow about 8 months ago and havent looked back for marketing sites. the interaction design capabilities are insane - scroll animations, page transitions, hover effects that would take hours in webflow take minutes in framer
the trade-off is real tho: framers CMS is basic and their pricing model changed in a way that makes it expensive for agencies managing multiple client sites
figma sites is interesting but not ready for professional use yet imo. used it for a quick landing page and the output was fine but the moment i needed anything beyond basic layout - custom interactions, form handling, third-party integrations - i hit walls everywhere
give it 2 more years and it might be a serious contender. right now its a prototype sharing tool with a domain name
Hot take nobody asked for: the real answer is wordpress with a good page builder for most actual business websites. agencies love talking about webflow and framer but 43% of the web still runs on wordpress and theres a reason for that
for design portfolios and marketing sites? yeah framer and webflow are awesome. for a restaurant that needs online ordering, event calendars, multilingual support, and 200 plugins? wordpress all day
