Salon and beauty business flyers are such a specific design challenge. You’re working with a demographic that responds to visual trends, color psychology, and aesthetic appeal — so design choices directly impact whether someone books an appointment.
I’ve worked on a few salon projects, and what works is very different from, say, a corporate flyer.
Color palettes that work in beauty/salon design:
- Rose gold + cream (luxury, approachable)
- Jewel tones + metallics (upscale, modern)
- Soft pastels (wellness, calming aesthetic)
- Deep jewel greens + gold (sophisticated)
Layout best practices:
- Hero image of the salon space or a before/after
- Highlight services with consistent icons or spacing
- Clear CTA (booking button, phone number, website)
- Contact information in multiple places
- Social media handles for booking/following
Typography approach:
- Elegant serif for salon name
- Clean sans-serif for service listings
- Accent font for promotions (but use sparingly)
- Readable sizes — beauty flyers are often handed out, not read on screen
What actually gets results:
- Special promotions (new client discounts, package deals)
- Staff highlights (especially talented stylists/estheticians)
- Before/after imagery (color changes, transformations)
- Quality imagery over generic stock photos
I’ve found that salon clients respond best when flyers feel personal and premium, not generic.
What’s your approach to salon and beauty flyer design? Do you use templates or build custom? And what elements have you found most effective at driving actual appointments?
