Can you sell AI-generated art on stock sites? I get this question every week in a contributors group, and I would like one link to send people instead of retyping it. I only know the sites I submit to, so I would like to hear from people who have read the rules for others.

The latest case: a friend generated about two hundred illustrations in an image generator over a few evenings, picked the best fifty, and plans to upload all of them to every stock marketplace she can find. She assumes that because the generator's terms allow commercial use, every stock site must accept the files.

I told her I was not sure that follows, and that each site writes its own contributor rules. What I would like is a plain answer to the question as typed: which sites take AI-generated work from contributors, which do not, and what the accepting ones require before a file goes live. I would also like to know whether uploading fifty near-identical variations is a good idea.

I thought if the generator lets you use the images commercially, that is the whole story. The license from the tool is your license, so a stock site has no reason to say no. Isn't that how it works?
